Wye Valley Barbel Featuring Chris Ponsford This is another collaboration from Tom Smith of Original Videos, himself a keen and accomplished angler, filming the Pons, as he is known, presenting a fascinating journey up the stunning Wye valley, at various locations which will be of interest to the visiting angler, with Barbel at the forefront. Chris, a river bailiff in the midlands, is an accomplished angling journalist and photographer, and very experienced all round angler, in many disciplines, but has really made his mark on the Barbel scene, telling it like it is, having a formidable record with the species, over 250 doubles plus to date, but now happy to pass on some of his hard won experience here. Coming from a match fishing background, he is a Korum Consultant, helping develop new gear and ideas from the think tank behind Prestons Innovations.. He understands and uses modern bait technology, but is certainly not afraid of using more traditional ones, as well as utilising the brilliant Pallatrax Stonze weight system to deadly effect. This DVD was filmed in August, on a typical clear summer river, often in blazing sunshine, with plenty of Barbel, being caught for the camera, plus rogue river Carp, all the tactics are properly filmed and explained as are baits, rigs, venues, and ticket availability. Three venues are tackled, including Ross on Wye, Hereford, and a fabulous Wye Usk Foundation Beat, truly not to be missed, you will be inspired to follow in the Big Mans footsteps as he enthusiastically guides you with a smile up the awesome Wye valley. The Barbel caught were pristine, fin perfect, fighting machines, possibly never having seen a hook before, and Chris using sharp eyesight was able to sight fish for them under the rod top, producing unmissable footage as they fed hard on the hand fed freebies on one section of river. Everything you need to know to give you the insight and knowledge without leaving your armchair, before you visit, which you surely will after seeing this great DVD.
