The Trout Fly Patterns of John Goddard
*SIGNED LIMITED EDITION*
`If you fish with them, their brilliance becomes clear.` From the introduction by Nick Lyons
John Goddard`s name in the world of flytying is pre-eminent. For more than 40 years he has been inventing flies for the world`s flyfishers - original, clever, effective trout flies.
This book records, in his own words, the story behind his best 35 trout-fly patterns, each one designed for specific conditions on the river or to represent natural flies in ways that are sure to deceive the trout.
Initially, he wanted his flies simply to `match the hatch`, but later he became convinced that `trigger features` were of great importance in fly design. Simplicity of tying has also been a prime objective.
Each one of the patterns in this book has gone into commercial production; it has been tried, tested and proved a winner. Sometimes, these flies have departed from their original design and one of the great values of this book is that it provides a definitive record of how each of the flies should look - from the inventor himself.
