Modern Day Canal Techniques (Mark Downes)

England International Mark Downes, a tackle consultant with French pole manufacturers Garbolino and U.K. Distributor of Sensas Groundbaits, has, over many years of competitive match fishing, established himself as one of the top canal anglers in the country. With numerous prestigious titles under his belt, topped by silver and gold team matches in the 1990 and 1991 World Championships, Mark is classed by many as a complete “all rounder“, but admits himself to be, “Intrigued by the challenges the canal circuit offers”. In this DVD, filmed over two days, Mark examines closely the methods used extensively by top anglers all over the country, and highlights how to get the most out of your local stretch of canal. On day one he looks closely at two of the cheapest forms of canal fishing, the bread punch, and chopped worm fishing for perch, talking in depth of how methods have changed in recent seasons. On day two Mark visits Rowington, on the Grand Union Canal, where he uses a combination of bloodworm and squatt to take a superb mixed bag of fish, and dispels some of the myths about bloodworm being expensive and shows us how to cut costs. Aproximate running time 60 minutes.
