It's a testament to their design just how well the original Greys Spod and Marker rods have stood up to the test of time. For their successors we've taken nothing away but improved the composite materials where needed; to ensure that these new rods outperform anything on the market.

In the modern carping age, a marker rod is now an essential piece of kit. Using a marker rod will help give you a better understanding of the lake bed and enable you to find features such as depressions, gravel bars, weed beds and silt gulleys. For the Greys Marker Plus rods we have enhanced the blank construction so that this rod is capable of casting big leads and markers to the horizon. These blank improvements are combined with a ground down rod tip section for increased responsiveness. This provides the perfect balance between a powerful fast taper butt section flowing into a reactive and sensitive tip.

The standard 12ft Marker Plus is able to cope with leads up to 4oz and is the perfect multi range rod for all but the most extreme distance marker work. The rod guides have been upgraded to our G-LiteTM Ultralite SIC guides with a standard 40mm butt to a 12mm low profile tip.

The 12'6" Distance Marker Plus is a rod built for all long range marker work when needed. Leads up to 5oz get the most out of this blank and it is now fitted out with G-LiteTM Ultralite SIC guides and a distance 50mm ringing pattern and 16mm low profile tip.

Daiwa Emblem Spod Reel

This is the best dedicated spodding reel on the market. Designed around the body and spool of the Emblem Pro the new 'Spod" retrieve over 100cm of line for every handle turn. The oversize ABS spool lets line peel off effortlessly and the Tournmanet line clip cushions even the most powerful of casts. CastLock ensures that the opened bail stays locked in the correct position during the cast. The Auto Cast II where, under the tension from a loaded spod you simply engage the button on the underside of the reel and the rotor will turn and stop at the perfect position for line pick up and bail opening. With four high quality ball bearings including one CRBB combined with worm gear oscillation the Emblem Spod truly is a tough and smooth performer.
