With the continuing decline of our rivers and streams, increasing numbers of fishermen are turning to still-water, and gravel pits in particular to pursue specimen fish. The DVD, filmed on typical gravel pits set in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, gives the viewer a unique insight into the methods and techniques that Matt Hayes used to capture specimen tench and carp. Matt`s approach is guaranteed to surprise you as he sets about catching big fish from the margins. The approach that he makes to these waters is genuinely unique and we guarantee you will not have seen any thing like it on DVD before. Many of the sequences are breathtaking, offering the viewer the opportunity to look over Matt’s shoulder and experience the incredible sensation that only observing a big fish suck the bait in can bring. You can be there with Matt as he at first watches big tench and carp enter the swim, lowers the bait to them and sets the hook as their lips close over it. Matt’s companions in the DVD are Bob Baldock and Peter Stone, two men whose experience lends a new dimension to the DVD. Peter stone in particular is probably the forefather of modern gravel pit fishing and in addition to discussing his views on these rich fisheries, proves that he still has ‘the edge’ by catching some fine tench.
